I was just diagnosed with with Factor 5 Leiden and MTHFR, anyone else have this?
After having 2 m/c's my doctor ordered some blood test. I went in to speak with him yesterday and he told me that i have Factor 5 Leiden and MTHFR. He said i will need to start taking extra Folic Acid and baby asprin everyday. I am already taking a prenatal vitamin and vitamin d. I will also have to have shots everyday through out my pregnancy so i don't get blood clots and for 6 weeks after the baby is born. He said that the Factor 5 Leiden is genetic so i got it from 1 of my parents. He also said i can never take birth control pill. He also said this is common and a lot of women have this, 1 in 8. Is there anyone else who has this? Will i still be able to have a healthy baby? I am kind of scared and i have been trying to research about this so any info or advice would help! Thanks!
Thank you so much for being so positive for me! I am scared to death about this. The doctor said that taking the extra folic acid and baby asprin should help a lot! I also won't have to start the shots until about 8 weeks of pregnancy. He said as soon as we see the heartbeat we can start the shots. So we are taking December off to relax and we are going to start TTC in January! How is Mia doing?

hey hun!!! I don’t have it but I saw a show about a women who had it on discovery. They should be giving you about 1 -2 mg of folic acid to take a day. The prenatal only contains about 400 mcg which is a lot smaller about. Make sure your getting lots of leafy greens as well. I am so glad you got an answer tho!!! Your on your way to having that baby!!!<3 I am very excited that this condition is very treatable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3 So this is good news! I know your scared but hang in there hun!
