I got sunburn!!! ouchh!!???

I hardly ever get sunburn! The last time I got burnt was probably about 3 years ago. Theres a few reasons for this. One is becuase even though I'm white, my skin is on the 'darker white' side... I have a lot of italian and a tad tiney bit of spanish in me (So little it doesnt even count! lol))

but the MAIN reason that i dont usually get burnt is becuase EVERY DAY i use sun screen!!! even in the winter! the lotion that i use after i get out of the shower (full body lotion, face and all) has an spf 30 in it! I'm CRAZY about protecting my skin!!

anyways...i went out in the sun yesterday for about 6 hours!!! and worst of all i forgot to use my lotion!! YIKES!!

I GOT BURNT!!

I bought 'after sun' lotion with aloe and vitamin E in it. It burns a little bit at first to put on but it cools things down a bit. I'm not burnt enough where i'm going to blister and peel.... its just my sholders, nose, and cheeks that got the worst of it. My problem is that it hurts to shower!!
I'm afraid to use soap becuase I know that it'll dry it out more! I have this 'soy milk' soap for sensitive skin but it burns when i put ANYTHING on my skin. It even burns to just be in the shower and have the water dripping down on me.

I'm about to get into the bath tub (Full of cool water!! the hot water hurtss!!)...and I'm just going to wash my hair (i cant bear to use anything on my body!)..

I have baby liquid soap/bubbles that i'm going to pour into the tub... other than that, is there any other super gentle way i can clean myself without spending too much money?

is there any other suggestions as to what to do to ease the pain of this sunburn? I'm wearing loose clothing...I've heard of putting used/cold tea bags on the area..this aloe is working to cool things down a bit. is there anything else i can do to make it heal faster??

  1. I know what u mean!!!! I’m black and yes we do get sunburned. About 4 years ago I went to the beach and it was a nice sunny day and I was in full view of the sun. I didn’t realize I was sunburned until I got in the shower and began to peel.

I would keep my skin moisturized with lotion like Lubriderm. It’s unscented and not heavy. It’s also the same lotion that they use on tattoos. So it works. But I do feel your pain.

  2. what do u want us to do about it?

  3. 100% natural aloe vera gel is best ..cools/soothes/moisturizes on contact
either from the plant itself or you can find it at cvs (any place like that)

  4. The best solution to sunburn is Noxzema. Noxzema cools your skin to relieve the heat and really helps especially on your face.

  5. i think you should use ice on the area to cool it down, but you should’ve done that rite after you got sunburned maybe it still works now try it!

  6. Well, I asked my mom if she had any tips but I didn’t get much. >.< My sister has the whole irish skin thing going on and it always makes her feel better if she bathes in ice water, not artic mind you but pretty cold. I suggest if possible baths instead of showers if it hurts that bad.

  7. tell you the truth what works for me is body cream with soothing aromas it works it relaxs your skin takes away the sun brun and calms you down while doing it

  8. At my home we use lavender oil in olive oil. It works well and helps you heal more quickly.

  9. OK go to the store and buy aloe Vera Jell or after sun cream the aloe extract is a natural oral medicine

  10. Milk will ease the burn/pain

Either use a wash cloth dipped in it and gently "wash" your skin with milk or put a good amount of it mixed with Cool water in your bathtub and sit in it at least 20 min.

Make sure to rinse off with water so you don’t smell like sour milk =)

  11. theres not much anything else you can do but wait lol i know i just got sunburned recently and i had it last time but this time its not as bad. if you’re still showering in pain with your sunburn try like putting a towel on it it won’t hurt as much

  12. yours is such an important questions…I hope lotsa people read this advice!

as it stands right now, you swab it with white vinegar (or cider vinegar but I don’t like going around smelling like a salad)…keep swabbing and swabbing and swabbing with vinegar…

for after-burn care, I would use every kind of moisturizer and skin revival serum, and nighttime recovery system, and moisture renewal and anything else you can find…even if it feels numb, you might be able to save it with a very VERY .V.E.R.Y. mild abrasive…

for those who don’t want to walk around with their skin on fire and can’t sit down or get dressed, a hot shower (as hot as you can stand) immediately after…it opens up the pores and lets healing oxygen in where swollen burned skin wouldln’t otherwise allow oxygen…don’t wait all day then try and shower later…it’s like putting salt on a wound…right after you cut yourself, the salt works great…try putting salt on an old wound…you understand what that does…

the vinegar reduces the pH of the skin…normally your skin has a lower pH but that all changes and gets screwed up when you get a sunburn…

tanning-salon bronzers can rescue the parts or your skin that are so red they’re HIDEOUS…bronzers contain exotic and fabulous moisturizers, e.g., almond oil, aloe gel, mink oil, palm oil, sesame oil, Shea butter, vitamins C and E…just be cautious–serious tanning-bed freaks like something called "tingle" don’t ask me why, but make absolutely certain your bronzer doesn’t have any tingle…

oh, and this is not the same as "sunless" tanning or "self tanning" or things that stain your skin…

  13. You were doing the right thing with the Aloe Lotion but the best after sun lotion for a burn is called SiloeVera and is a combination of Aloe and Silver. The silver is what hospitals use for burn treatment and the aloe is good for your skin after the sun. You can buy this in Gel or Lotion at http://www.notaquitter.com. If you order some now you will have it in a couple of days and they ship world wide.
