I am a 17 year old female vegetarian. What is the best vitamin for me to take?
I am looking for a good multivitamin to take. I am trying my best to get the proper nutrition but I do not eat meat and I rarely have dairy (I will sometimes eat yogurt, but I drink soymilk and rarely eat eggs.) Thanks!

If you follow a balanced diet you don’t need any vitamins, but a one-a-day never killed anyone. This website, run by the Mayo Clinic, has a copy of the vegetarian food pyramid on it. Use it when planing your meals.

A normal multivitamin should be fine. Make sure it has plenty of iron though. Women require lots of iron for menstruation. The biggest nutrient deficiency is a lack of protein. Nuts are a good vegetarian source of protein for someone who doesn’t like dairy or eggs.

i am vegetarian too,i take feroglobin syrup,the doctor recommend it to me.

I have been a vegetarian since i was 10 and my mother insisted that i we talk to a doctor before i became a vegetarian because i had not started puberty. Assuming that you have already started puberty and those things a vitamin is not all that important there are no adverse effects from not taking one but if you are just starting you should maybe eat meat substitutes or drink soy or eat bunches and bunches of green veggies such as spinach (eating some sort of soy or soy milk, or bars will be a lot easier than getting the amount of protein you need from just veggies alone. if you don’t get enough protein when you first become a vegetarian you will be weak an nauseous but it is only really really really important in the first 6 months to a year of becoming a vegetarian but given your age you should be okay be sure is what you want to do after the first year or two if you eat meat you will feel sick and depending on the quantity you will throw it up
They have a one a day y for teens that is pretty helpful and there is a vitamin called gabba in a bronze bottle at GNC (if that is close by you)

there are good rescorces and the best is a good b vitamin with b12 but you can get it also from some of the soy milks such as slik has it there are others also read the label
