Hypothtically of course, can you take vitamins rather than eating?


I love food so don't give me the posts about how you have to eat, don't starve yourself blah blah blah... HYPOTHETICALLY, since lots of daily vitamins (and total cereal) claim to have a full days vitamins, can you take vitamins rather than eating or would your body still need more?

Also don't include caloric intake goals.

  2. No, for the simple fact that calories (which are actually kilocalories) are needed in the body to produce heat and energy (by the laws of physics), and vitamins don’t contain the adequate amounts of proteins, fats and essential vitamins that aren’t typical in vitamins.

    Vitamins can’t subsitute for calories, since your body burns calories for energy, it’s a supplement.

  3. Well, I read this one article in a magazine, and if you were hooked up to an IV you wouldn’t have to eat as long as it had all of the nutrients.

  4. No, calories = the energy your body needs to operate. Thus the need for food to get the calories you need.

  5. You’d still be missing the minerals your body needs, as well as the antioxidants and phytochemicals inherent in food. As well, people require certain degrees of fats not available in supplements.

    You have to have some type of food.

  8. I would never do that. Your body needs a lot more that only vitamins. Your body needs fiber, minerals, cabs, proteins, even metals.
    The things with the vitamins is that mostly in the food that we chose to eat are not balance as is suppose to and also the regular food that we buy at the store day by day contains more chemicals and hormones than what we actually need. Food has become commercial, so producer has tried to make us addicted and the healthy part of it has pass to a lower level, that why today we are going back to what used to be in the past and now we are having what is called organic.
    However, even with the organic food (which is what I use) we still once in a while going out to eat, or you are invated to a friends house to eat, and goes like that, so I also use detox, which anyways we are suppose to used it at least four times a year. Cleaning your colon, liver, etc, reduce the percentage of cancer in your body in those areas.
