It would be great for her because American’s have an imbalance of type of fats. This will help balance it and is great for her brain. I like that made from krill oil because it has some antioxidants too and from a clean source.

The technical reason to take supplements of omega 3 oil (an essential oil for our health) is that modern diets have 20 to 50 less omega 3 than what we need to maintain our health (basically, our diets have excess omega 6 in the form of grains and grain oils, that we should avoid as much as possible).
We need omega 3 in every cell of our body since conception until we died. Pregnancy is the best time to start supplementation of omega 3 because the brain development of the child depends on a good supply of omega 3.
After that we need omega 3 in childhood in amounts of minimum 300 mg per day of omega 3 fats (EPA plus DHA, from the label), which is normally 1.000 mg per day of fish oil. I personally recommend to take 2.000 mg of fish oil per day after 8-9 years until 14-15 years, when full development is reached.
But this is no rocket science; the dosage depends on your age, your weight, your health and som e other variables. Please read http://www.omega-3-fish-oil-wonders.com/omega-3-fatty-acids-dosage.html
