How much vitamin C is TOO much to consume in any given day?

I usually drink a lot of orange juice or 2-3 packets of Emergen-C at the first sign of cold or sickness, but is there a such thing as too much vitamin c?
Dave87g: Emergen-C packets have 1,000mg, so 2-3 is 2,000-3,000mg

  1. Really the maximum dosage you should take is around 2,000mg. Emergen-C has 1,000mg per packet. Lethal dosages of vitamin C are not likely to be achieved as they are pretty high. Just remember no accurate study has been done to prove vitamin C reduces the length of a cold or helps prevent one. But hey, at least you won’t get scurvy!

  2. Not really. I take 1000mg a day, which is way more than you..Up to 2000 mg is still okay

and I havent been sick in 4 years

  3. It’s a water soluble vitamin so any excess you pee out.

  4. Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin so if your body gets more than it needs, it just pees out the rest that you don’t need. You can’t overdose on it. I’ve seen supplements that have 1000% of the daily recommended value. Having excess won’t hurt you.

  5. there’s no limit for taking vitamin C in any given day. coz it is a water soluble vitamin, if it exceeds no matter it will get out through urination…………….yet one should not take a very huge amount of vit.C as a precaution……….thnx

  6. Vitamin C is water soluble and you can’t take too much, you just pee it out. O.o so you’re safe ha.
