How much is too much Vitamin C?

There's an outbreak of a virus at my college right now, so I've been loading up every day with Vitamin C. Today I was planning on taking 3g of Vitamin C via Airborne, orange juice, and then a chewable tablet to Vitamin C (not sure of the dosage). Are they any harmful effects of taking too much Vitamin C?

  1. Vit C is water soluble vitamin, so it is not "stored" like the fat soluble vitamins like A D E and K. Whatever your body does not use it will get passed out of the body. Too much vit C can lead to loose bowel movements so if this occurs you should back off a bit.

  2. 500 mg is harmful to the body taken over a weriod of 30 days it causes damage to the white blood cells that protect against deseise although it protects other cells it damages these.

  3. Linus Pauling the discoverer used to take 10,000 mg every morning. If you reach bowel tolerance you’ll get diarrhea. No big deal.
Take 5000 iu of vitamin D3 a day for maintenance in winter. It can prevent colds, flu, etc.

  4. There would not be any harmful effects from taking 3g of vitamin C. Vit C is a water soluble vitamin so you would have to take to 2 lbs of it to overdose. Otherwise if the body doesn’t have any more use for it, it’s simply excreted through the urine.

  5. Vitamin C has never been proven to help prevent colds (I’m guessing it’s a cold virus), it’s an old wife’s tale. Stick with the orange juice, vit C is water soluble so any not used will just be peed out. A healthy diet rich in fruit and veg is much more reliable.

Wash your hands frequently, avoid touching your face and avoid touching door handles, light switches etc.
