How long does it take for vitamin pills to disolve?
I am taking one a day multi vitamin pills and i was wondering how long it takes to disolve? And i am planning to split it in half because i heard it was better to do that, and i wanted to take half at lunch(12pm) and the other half at dinner(8pm). Is that a good enough time for it to disolve? Its a pill, not gel

Unclue Dodge is right… unless you have a major digestive issue, it won’t be a problem.
Chris, however, is actually purporting an old (and rather ridiculous) myth that seems to have been started by a company selling a quick-dissolve tablet. Vinegar is NOT the same acidity as your stomach… in fact, Vinegar is about a 3 on the pH scale while your stomach acid is at about a 1, which is a 100 fold difference in acidity. If Vinegar were as strong as your stomach acid, pickles wouldn’t exist because they are stored in Vinegar (which is a food preservative, not a food digesting agent). ;-)
With that being said, capsules are typically broken down in your stomach within a few minutes (it’ll be absorbed within typically 2-4 minutes in most cases) while tablets will take longer to dissolve (which could range from 20 to 100+ minutes depending on what the tablet is made up of… the less Calcium and Phosphate in the tablet, the easier it tends to be to break down).
Again, unless you have a major digestive problem like low stomach acid (commonly from gastric bypass or taking too many acid blockers/reducers), you should have no problem digesting the pill at all. Good luck and I hope I helped!

It should be. If there are digestion issues, I recommend a gel or, even better, a chewable like I do.

It depends on the brand. A multivitamin should take no longer than a half hour to dissolve.
To find out how long it takes, place one of your vitamins in a glass of vinegar. Vinegar has the same acid level as your stomach. This will show you hold long it takes to dissolve, if it even dissolves at all.

The pill will completely dissolve within 5 min, the stomach acid will destroy it almost right away. If its an issue, you can just grind up the pill (break it apart with a spoon) and add it to water or whatever juices and drink it. I would suggest eating a full balanced meal then taking vitamin pills, as its better absorbable in foods then in pill form.

the stomach acid will dissolve any kind of pill in 5 -10 mins

Multivitamins will give you energy, so it is a lot better to take it in the morning. If they are hard pills it takes about 4-6 hours before it leaves the stomach broken down–then it goes to the duodenum where the nutrients get absorbed so you are looking at a total of 8 hours before the multivitamin is totally absorbed and out of your system. It is not necessarily true that it’s better to take them in 2 installments. If that was the case then the recommendation would be to take 1 pill 2 times a day……

If taken with food it should take as long as your food to digest…
