How do I lower or reverse high blood pressure?

I found out I have like 149 over something blood pressure i'm a 19 year old Chinese. My dad and grandpa seems to have it. But I don't know if it's genetic, because lately I haven't been doing much exercises and i've been eating fast food a lot and yeah a lot. I'm in college. So it should be expected.

What are some foods that I should eat that actually can do the reverse and maybe kill some bad fat that is clogging me? I'm not fat by the way. I have good metabolism, and I poop a lot.

Can you just give me a basic plan. Like how much cardio a week. What food I should eat. Basically the best foods out there, money is not a problem for me. Just name the best of the best food for healthy living, and to reverse if possible or just lower my blood pressure.
I don't drink, smoke or do drugs.

  1. OK

    Exercise

Cut out the fast food – full of salt

Cut other salt out of your diet

    Cut down on caffeine

    Reduce alcohol intake

  2. Eat less fatty food, and get more exercise

  3. Cut out most salt. Salt contributes to high blood pressure big time. If a recipe calls for salt, use a small amount of sea salt instead of a large amount of table salt.

Other than that, just diet like you would if you wanted to get healthier—exercise, smaller portions, wiser choices like salads, veggies, yogurt, etc.

Good luck. I have the same problem, so I know it sucks, lol. :)

  4. Diet, exercise, eat breakfast everymorning. Add oatmeal, cinanom, nuts to your everyday life.

  5. Start the DASH diet (Diet Aid Stop Hypertension). Blood pressure pills (medication) must be started before you exercising. Hypertension (high blood pressure) is called the silent killer (no symptoms). Stress can make your blood pressure go up. Skinny people get high blood pressure. It can be genetic. Go to your doctor ! Do not work out and increase your heart rate/blood pressure until the doctor approves it. Cardio is out unless the doctor says it is ok.

  6. normal blood pressure for 18 yr olds and up is usually less than 120 and 80.
You can prevent or lower high blood pressure by being physically active; following a healthy eating plan, that emphasizes fruits, vegetables, and lowfat dairy foods which are low in any type of fat and cholesterol; choosing and preparing foods with less salt and sodium; and, if you drink alcoholic beverages, drinking in moderation.

you should also do a 30 minute moderate level activity on most days of the week. all days is better. some activities include brisk walking and bicycling.

  7. See a Homoeopath/Naturopath.

Until then ground garlic. There is a chemical reaction created when you crush it. Salmon oil is good too. Many of my patients use those two ingredients regularly with good effect. Lots of dark, colourful veggies. Fish, and white meats. I’d try to stay away from BP meds if you can (as long as you aren’t dangerously high), because sometimes they open up a can of worms, or your body may become dependant on them. 8-10 cups of plain water daily. High BP is genetic. Not quite so common in Chinese though. But anyways. 120/70 is textbook yes, but some people naturally run higher, or lower. As far as cardio is concerned. Break out into a sweat at least 20min daily. Huge amounts of money have gone into the Canadian and American food guides. They are good, and realistic. Just keep the crap food, and stress level to a minimum. If you haven’t already, make sure with your physician that your elevated BP isn’t symptomatic of something else.
