How do fats help transport vitamins through the body?


I read online that fats help transport vitamins through the body. Can someone explain this process to me please?

  1. Hi, although some vitamins are soluble in water, some are not. Vitamins A,E,D and K are actually fat soluble, which means unless they are eaten alongside a source of fat, they are not able to be absorbed into the body.

    When eaten with fat, they can essentially "dissolve" and pass into the bloodstream and thus be transported through the body.
    If there is no source of fat, it’s the equivalent of eating a vitamin coated in metal, ie- the body cannot access the vitamin, it cannot not dissolve, and it will pass through your system undigested.

    The majority of vitamins are water soluble so this isn’t an issue for them, but a few, equally vital ones, are only soluble when eaten with fat, which is one of the reasons why fat is an important part of a healthy diet.
