How can you prevent damaged hair with heat tools if you use them everyday?

I have really wavy/poofy hair that makes me look really weird if I don't do something with it.
I usually straighten my hair every morning. (I rarely use a curling iron. It takes to long. xD)
I want to grow my hair longer, and make sure it's healthy in the process. (I've read everywhere that you shouldn't use heat tools often.) I HAVE to use them though.
I take daily vitamins. (E, Evening Primrose, Hair Skin and Nails), I deep condition almost everyday, I only use semi-perm hair dye (Or the really nice Loreal permanent. ((I don't dye my hair that often. My hair is it's natural color right now.))

I'm going to be cutting my really long hair short, but then I'll want it long again after a short while.
How can I prevent the damage of heat products to my hair if I HAVE to use them everyday?
While still having my hair grow healthy and faster?

Products? I can never find any at the store, I don't know what to look for, and I'm not sure if it would actually work.
Thanks. x Lauren.

  1. I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN! xD I’m not kidding, I really do know exactly what you mean.

I’m actually on a mission over the summer not to straighten my hair at all. It was originally a length mission, because my hair breaks alot when I straighten it, but my hair has become ALOT more healthy from not straightening it. Instead, I just get it wet every morning and put a bunch of mousse in it and it still looks nice.

Also, only wash your hair about every OTHER day. All the water actually dries your hair out more (more water = more dry? I don;t really get it, but whatever.). Whether I get it or not, it really makes a difference. As for the inbetween days, I just take a small plastic pitcher, fill it up, and dump it over my head a few times.

My hairdresser did tell me that having longer hair is actually better for my hair, because With it being weighed down, I won’t have to straighten it so many times to get the look I want, and the weight also keeps it mostly down, so when I don’t want to straighten it, it still looks nice.

I’ve been using White Rain or V05 shampoo and conditioner, and it works GREAT (which is pretty incredible at a buck for 20 ounces!). Even though it’s cheap, it’s been working really well for me, I promise. And milk. It sounds weird, but massage some into your hair about 20-30 minutes before taking a shower; it’s very nutrientfull and helps keep hair shiny and less frizzy/poofy.

(Wow, this is getting really long, sorry…) To make it grow faster, massage your head in circles everynight before you go to bed for a few minutes. It stimulates your hair follicles… or something.

Okay, I’ll stop now. Hope this helps :)

  2. tresemme has heat repair (something like that) shampoo and conditioner
and it also has heat protectant spray you put on before u use heat

they should be pretty cheap…each shouldnt be over 20$

  3. if your’re tired of the flat iron use the in styler. it make your hair so much better without burning it. your hair can be dry as sand but the in styler will make it look moisturized. it will make your hair nice i have one so i know.

  4. Condition, condition and CONDITION! Conditioner is your life saver!
Buy a restructuring conditioner, you can get them from as little as £5-£100, it just depends. However, conditioner is conditioner! Also deep condition about 3-4 times a week in addition to using daily conditioner. In terms of your heat-addiction, keep your irons on the lowest heat setting possible, use a heat protection spray/cream. Also once a week leave an intensive conditioner on your hair over night, wrap your head in clingfilm to generate the heat from your scalp so that will really penetrate your hair to lock in the moisture. In the morning rinse as usual with lukewarm water. Also, just because you have to use irons, does not mean that you have to constantly blow dry, wash your hair at night and let it dry naturally, just to give it a little break!
6 weekly trims at the salon will also maintain your condition, and get a conditioning treatment while you are there, it costs between £5-£10, but it so worth it!
In terms of shampoo/conditioner, buy Tigi Catwalk Oatmeal & Honey, it smells lush and really is your new best friend, and it’s reasonably priced too and will last awhile! I’ll put a link at the bottom for you.

Tigi really DO do the best products EVER!

  5. http://www.amazon.com/TRESemme-Thermal-Creations-Tamer-Protective/dp/B000H88QOM

^ 7 reviews. At the Walgreens (NC) it’s $6.99. Tresemme also carries a heat defense line. You can buy all of your styling products from Tresemme’s heat defense line. Dove has a really good leave in (spray) moisturizer you can get at Walmart. Herbel Essence Carries a line called ‘Long term relationship’ that’s really good and affordable. And, the adds for the new Pantene line, it is a really good product and they’re giving away free samples right now.

You’re already doing a really good job at taking care of your hair. You could put it in a bun and wear it messy one day out of the week also.

  6. Ive got the same problem as you, like ive got Natural wavy hair and i got to straighten my fringe everyday because it Always look wrong, so I went to superdrug to get heat protection spray and it helps my hair look nice and still natural, I use charles worthington heat protection spray and its reasonably priced at £3.00. so I think if you get heat protection spray that will really help :) I hope this will help you x
