Frizz, non-luster, and annoyance. Help?
As you have read in the question, my hair seems to be in terrible shape. I do not understand why because the only "trauma" I occasionally put my hair through is dyeing, which I do about once every three months. Other than that, I only finger comb my hair, I wash it in room temperature water, and use somewhat pricey shampoos (Paul Mitchell Smoothing, this organic minty tea tree stuff, John Freida Brilliant Brunette, and occasionally Garnier Fructis Shine Burst -I switch between these about every 2 or 3 showers.) I also use the Paul Mitchell smoothing serum. I NEVER straighten, blow-dry, or curl my hair. I bought a hot oil treatment which was also to no avail. I get my hair cut about every 3 months, and I use my towel very minimally when drying so as not to further damage my hair.Yesterday I bought a vitamin supplement called Biotin at 1000mcg (I only know that this means 'high potency' because it says so on the bottle). After all the crap I've tried, I doubt it'll work though.
(ctd.) I know that my mom's hair is ridiculously frizzy (we have slightly wavy-type hair), but she's also been dying it monthly or worse since her teenage years. I actually am only trying to get back to my natural color, which is tough because I was a red head throughout highschool (naturally cool dark brown), and the brassiness keeps coming through. But that's another story. I am asking for further, somewhat proffessional advice on how to help my hair. Maybe a certain food that I'm not eating enough of? No product endorsements, please, unless you are absolutely convicted of its success. Things like Dove shampoo work for a lot of people. Just not me, for some odd reason...
ONE person has the same problem as me? NO hairstylists, cosmetologists, beauticians, what-have-you EXIST in Yahoo!Answers? Uggghhh, please...I'm dying for more advice.

Hot oil treatments are nothing for frizz compared to a thick, rich, creamy masque. Try it every week, leaving it in for a bit. Also, leave a dab of conditioner in your hair when out of the shower. You also only want to shampoo hair once a week.
