squats and lunges? hell they arent easy, Steve, it kills LOL :D especially walking lunges and dumbbells and back barbell squats. Love ur vids! Ive been getting a lot of knew knowledge from you. Thanks a lot!
depends on your goals. if youre looking to train endurance, go for a moderate pace for a long period of time. for fat loss, youll need higher intensity
But aren’t the abductor/adductor machines really good for toning the inner and outer thigh? I’ve been doing squats and lunges for years and definitely agree that they work the front and back of legs, but my trouble area has always been my inner thigh, so I turned to this machine. Plie squats seem to help with the inner thigh as well.
No they’re not good. Squats. lunges, seated and lying leg curls are still the best. AFTER that it’s dieting and cardio to rid the legs of extra fat. Remember, you can’t tone fat!
I don’t know what you mean by “dieting”, but if you eat a well balanced diet of wholesome foods(without starvingg your body) you can gin muscle and in turn the muscle wll burn off the extra fat stores…
They’re useless. Do some regular high-bar/low-bar back squats with proper form. Go ATG. do something like a 3×5 or a 5×5 or a 5/3/1 and watch the fat melt off of you and your legs and back explode with strength. After doing that for a while you want to go back to doing half an exercise, be my guest.
Extremely bad advice as far as squats in a smith machine. A smith machine inhibits the natural forward and backward motion during a squat. Guaranteed knee problems there. Also, smith machines are not safer, if you have problems with a bar or dumbell you can dump the weight. If you’re pinned under a smith machine, you’re screwed.
@DieFatorLiveThin I agree. my favorite exersize for legs are front squats, cause they allow you to lift a lot of weight, it’s easy to dump the weight if needed, and front squats are very safe for the lower back
i don’t have time for the gym ne more and just bought taebo for home exericse just wondering if that is a good decision and what can i do about weights since not going to the gym ne more to get tone

Another dumb exercise is something I see lots of guys doing…Hammer cable curls. They essentially attach a tricep rope (which I don’t think is very effective) to a low pulley and curl it. This is an incredibly ineffective, stupid, and unnecessary exercise. I don’t feel hammer curls are the best exercise, but if you wanna do them do them with dumbbells. Why make it dumber!!!

i have never & will never be caught dead using the adductor & adductor. “shut the fck up & squat!!!”

With cardio workouts–Does the intensity matter more of the duration? Both?
May 11th, 2009 - 15:13
Both are important. But easier and longer is sometimes easier.

The only thing the smith machine is good for is scrap metal. I would rather tell people to do DB squats than use that machine.

March 6th, 2010 - 03:45
