Does fluoride in toothpaste block the absorption of supplements and vitamins?

My mother went to a nutritionist at the local "Clarks" nutrition store because supposively this guys has a good reputation. One thing he told her was to get toothpaste that was fluoride free because it blocks the absorption of supplements she needs. He is also a big believer in some book that says specifically which foods are good/bad for certain blood types. Any thoughts, knowledge or experience with this and is this guy legit or full of crap?

  1. sounds full of crap – nobody swallows toothpaste so how can it effect the absorption of supplements?

edit* you need a certain amount of flouride in your body actually it’s only poisonous if too much is taken. Oh and baby’s get flouride drops

  2. Yes it does if swallowed and digested. Brush… spit… rinse. Do not swallow. That is why babies toothpaste does not have fluoride in it. Ah yes we are unknowingly being medicated by teh government; there is flouride in the water we drink from the tap, and in small amounts your all good. Just don’t eat toothpaste my man.

  3. I don’t know if it blocks absorption of vitamins but I think simple logic tells us not to put anything in our mouths that is poisonous and even admits it right on the label.
