Does COMPUTER WORK have the effect of RAISING BLOOD PRESSURE ?
In the morning, or during the day, I have normally a blood pressure of approx . 120/ 75. But after 2 oder more hours at the computer it is between 137 - 145. I also do feel a bit nervous and wake up during the night because I cant sleep for hours.
Anybody experienced something like that ?
Solution ? -I love my computer work !
Thanks for answering .

Yes,it elevates the BP, specially desk top. This is because of prolong sedentary work, which is a risk factor.
Use laptop and keep changing your position meanwhile.
Do breathing exercise while going to sleep.
No sedative please.

I don’t think it has to do with the computer work…. I do computer work for 10 hours per day and have a highly stressful job, but my BP always runs between 100/60 110/70 or rarely 120/80……..
Perhaps it has to do with something else you are doing within the time you are working on the computer; possibly drinking lots of soda, eating foods with high sodium content, or taking smoke breaks frequently…. those things all raise BP. I suggest consulting your primary physician and seeing what he/she has to say about it.

think you answered your own question. You love your computer work. Doing something enjoyable sometimes has an effect on your BP. doing something you love will release endorphins and dopamine which result in that feel good or happy felling and as a result it can slightly elevate the BP.

There is a condition that can cause blood pressure to rise or fall depending on the position you are in. You can get treatment for that. Sitting for long periods can cause blood clots, so if you ever have pain in your legs you should definitely get treatment immediately. See your doctor, is the 137-145 your top or your bottom number when you are at the computer? I am assuming the top numer. Why are your taking your blood pressure while you are working? Just wondering.
