Does being depressed and somewhat sad has to do with having vitamin D deficiency?
I somewhat get depressed at times and my friends keep telling me I'm sad plus I keep getting mad at everything does vitamin d deficiency has anything to do with that?

Yes. The current recommendation is 4000 to 5000 iu of vitamin D3 daily as a maintenance dose in winter. You can have a 25(OH}D blood test to deternine the extent of the deficiency.
Make sure that the D you supplement with is D3. D2 etc. is useless.

it could be one of the reasons, but its never the main reason for depression

Vitamin D has profound effects on the brain including the neurotransmitters involved in major depression. Vitamin D deficiency can cause depression and Seasonal Affective Disorder.
