1) TAKE CERTAIN SUPPLEMENTS:
* An all-purpose mineral supplement from a health food store,
* Ascorbic acid (C),
* Choline.
* Copper is necessary for the production of the TSH.
* Copper and Zinc for the peripheral cellular mechanism of T4.
* Iodine; 100 to 180 mcg per day is the suggested dose.
* Kelp,
* Thiamine (B1),
* Vitamin B complex,
* Zinc.
2) AVOID CERTAIN FOODS: The following foods, if eaten frequently, could interfere with iodine uptake, and cause poor thyroid function:
* Almonds have a suppressive effect.
* Broccoli,
* Brussels sprouts,
* Cabbage,
* Cashews have a suppressive effect,
* Cauliflower,
* Garden cress could do the same,
* Kale,
* Kohlrabi,
* Milk of cows grazing on these foods,
* Mustard — brown/Indian, black, or white,
* Nitrates interfere with the tyrosine-iodine linkage.
* Peanuts are OK; only the SKINS of peanuts need to be avoided.
* Radish,
* Rapeseed,
* Rutabaga,
* Soybeans, and
* Turnips.

peanuts can slow your thyroid function temporarily so keep that in mind. You can take iodine supplements, if you need them, but be very careful and consult your doctor because it is possible to overdose on iodine.
