Does anyone have this type of problem going to the bathroom?

Sometimes I urintate at least 14 times a day. I take vitamin E tablets, and I have been tested for prostate cancer and the results came back negative.
I have talked to at least three different doctors and they have tested me for diabetes, and the results all came back normal.
Sometime, I get wet before making it to the bathroom, and it is embarrasing when I go to work or into a store or public places with wet spots.
I take extra pants and underwear with me when I leave the house.
Has anyone else had this type of problem, and what have you done or take for precautions?

  1. Sounds like you have an over-active bladder. There are medations to help with the urgency and frequency. Haven’t any of the doctors discussed this with you? If not, talk to one about it. Many people experience this.

And get some pads to wear inside your underwear. I think they have ones for men. If you can’t find any, ask a druggist–he may be able to order them for you. Women’s pads made for bladder control have an adhesive strip on the back, so they stick to their underwear. They come in different absorbencies. Until you could get some for men, you could use those. The Poise panty liners or next more absorbent ones are quite thin. You might have to change to briefs if you now wear boxers. The briefs would be easier to stick the pad to.

Oh, and learn how to do Kegel exercises. They will strengthen the muscles.

Don’t wait around any longer! It must be a pain to have to take extra clothes with you all the time. Make an appt. with a doctor, and get a prescription! And if you get one, don’t be impatient—it can take up to a few weeks to start seeing results. Once you start taking them, you must take them every day. There are several different brands. Your doctor will determine which is best for you. Just be honest and tell him your symptoms. You shouldn’t have to suffer like this!

    Good luck!

  2. no but try using panty liners to save you from embarrasment and washing

  3. maybe the doctors can perscribe meds to help reduce the urine frequency

  4. Your doctor should be able to prescribe something for you to control your bladder, ask him next time you see him, or make an appointment, so he can get you started on some kind of medication. good luck to you and take care.

  5. If you have done it, ask your family doctor about seeing a Urologist. They specialize in this sort of thing. I would carry or wear panty liners. You might try Kegal exercises, as they help strengthen the muscles that control urination..

  6. Try not to drink so much water.

  7. i believe that there are 2 elastic type bands around the urethra that holds back urine for a "normal" amount of time. the urethra is the tube that comes out from the bladder. Possible that the bands have gotten floppy/weak. When you are at home try exercising this area by doing a squeeze type motion (not easy to explain) in your abdominal genital area by sqrunching the area. this is not a squeeze by hand. do this many times a day and it might tighten the bands

  8. I can understand, just speak with your doctor and see if he can prescribe anything for this – possibly Detrol la

  9. You don’t mention your age but, when older you will find the bladder does not completely empty as it has in the past. If you have an enlarged prostate gland this becomes even more evident. It will contract about 3 times to completely empty. The elasticity has been reduced.

  10. Go to a urologist. Regular family doctors have no sense it seems about urinary systems. Mine didn’t, and tested me for everything. Went to a urologist and got results very quickly.

Sounds like you have overactive bladder, medications work miracles. I know, had the same problem you report, and it has gone away since I started taking the daily medication. Worth every penny, and I started noticing improvement in just a couple of days.
