Does anyone have any awesome hair-growing tips? Detailed story inside.?

I recently lost alot of hair due to a botched dye job, more like an allergic reaction that a skin test didn't work for. It gave me a kind of chemical hair cut and made my hair really thin in some places. I've always had short hair, but I got alot of it cut off and now it's kind of a boy cut. I want to grow it out since I've been doing treatments for it. I've been using the Pantene Retoratives shampoo and conditioner, which works great, infusium 23 leave-in treatment and I've been taking a multi-vitamin and biotin. I've also stopped blow-drying and flat ironing it. I dont' dry it with a towel and cut down on brushing.

I have olive oil on my hair right now.

Other than this, is there anything that anyone else did to grow their hair out faster? I'm not looking for a silver bullet hair growth miracle, just a little something to speed up the process.

Will vote for best answer.

  1. Ok, there really is no miracle cure, but one thing I can tell you is that you should dump the Pantene and Infusium, they are loaded with alcohol and eventually they are going to make your hair break off even more.

If your hair is still really damaged, then I suggest your purchase the Inergy shampoo and Humectin conditioner from Phyto Organics by Nexxus. These are great products that are going to make your hair grow faster and grow in healthy and soft. If you are trying to get the bald patches to grow back in and to make your hair feel fuller, then purchase Nioxin shampoo or conditioner. In 6 months, you hair is going to grow in faster, softer, and fuller. Either product work great, and you can even mix the different hair products from either brand.

I work at JcPenney Salon, and we sell all these products, if you would like, I can email you a coupon for 20% off anything in the salon or store.

Keep up the regular trims, every 8 weeks or so just to make sure that your hair is growing in healthy.

  2. All you can do is stick to what you’ve been doing. Eat a healthy diet because your hair needs to get healthy from the inside as well. Vitamin C, B’s, Calcium and protein are all good for the hair too. Gelatin is a good source as well.

  3. You need to find a way to go into a coma for a couple months, then when you wake up – POOF – you’ll have long hair.

Seriously, THERE IS NO WAY TO MAKE YOUR HAIR GROW FASTER. There’s crazy homeopathic remedies. People will tell you to put eggs, mayo, oil, Kraft dinner on your head – it won’t work. (my friend tried vinegar and she ended up smelling like a plate of french fries for the day). There’s no hope.

Your hair hair will grow at a predetermined rate. It’s your natural rate. Some people have hair that grows crazy fast, others don’t. It’s the same with men, some men can shave in the morning and have stubble by the evening, for others it can take a full day before the hint of stubble appears.

Work on making your hair look longer. Flat ironing your hair will help it look longer. If it’s a boyish cut, try putting a headband into it, or playing with it. I find that just forgetting about it will make it grow faster.

This past summer, my hairdresser totally botched my hair, like blunt bob with crooked bangs chopped up in the middle of my forehead ("Bif bangs" circa 90s). It was brutal, my bangs did this s shape across my forehead because they were so crooked. THE point of this story, is, trust me, I would have done anything to make my hair grow faster…THERE IS NO HOPE.

Just take care of your hair though, good move on not blowdrying it. If you dry it frequently, then you’ll end up with split ends, which you’ll need trimmed, and then it’ll take twice as long to grow because you need to keep getting trims.

  4. Inositol (not sure about spelling) is supposed to be good for hair growth. Hopefully you will be able to find it in a health food store. I’ve looked in the health food section in walmart and my grocery store for it (one of my kids has that hair pulling disorder), planning on getting her some tomorrow.
    Good luck!

  5. im so sorry to hear that, maybe take some prenatal vitamins. they work wonders for hair growth and healthy looking hair! also be as healthy as possible and make sure to get hair trimmed enough to prevent split ends of any kind which actually slows hair growth down because it goes upwards damaging and breaking hair off! hairdresser told me to go every 12 weeks if your trying to grow hair out the fastest but its usually 6-8 weeks just to keep super up to date on trimmed hair.

  6. ill let u in on a secret, this is miracle hair fixer which fixed my bleached hair! its called clynol id care repar, regenerate intensive collagen treatment, hair and skin is made of collagen it works by strenthening the damage and completely fixes broken hair!
    its amazing!!!

  7. Good hair growth starts with good internal health. I’d seek out your local guru in wholistic medicine and see what supplements they can offer for hair growth. I’ve used a great product called provillus.
