Do prenatal vitamins really make you gain weight?

I've heard that if you take prenatal vitamins then you will gain weight. I was wondering because I wanted to take them to make my hair grow. Friends with personal experience told me it works. And that you the extra vitamins that arew usually for the baby will come out in your urine. So I was just wondering, is any of this true? Does anyone have personal experience with this? Someone please help me out! Thank you! (:

  1. I haven’t known people to gain weight but I have known people who get constipated from the high amounts of iron.

  2. prenatal vitamins don’t make you gain weight…you usually take them while you’re pregnant and already gaining weight.

  3. good question…i’ve been taking them for the same reason also. I have noticed a slight difference in my weight (like 3lbs) and I do get hungrier. It could be that they make me hungrier. I’ve heard that vitamins require a lot of energy to work themselves into the body so this might be the reason why they could be making me hungrier.

  4. i think so b/c if you watch the show I Didn’t know i Was Preganant…..all the girls actually lost weight during their pregnancy b/c they werent on the prenatal vitamins….however if your not pregnant im not so sure then. but i heard they make your hair grow to sooo let me know how that works if you decide to try it. =)
