Do prenatal vitamins make you more fertile?
I am reading everywhere how good prenatal vitamins are for skin, nail/hair growth. Just wondering what their purpose is. Do people take them when they want to get pregnant and why? Not looking to pregnant, can I still take them?

The big thing with prenatal vitamins is that they contain more folic acid. Folic acid prevents spinal cord defects in fetuses, so taking these vitamins before and during your pregnancy is a major plus for your baby.
These vitamins will not make you more fertile or provoke pregnancy in any way.

They don’t make you fertile. They are just good for you…even when you’re not pregnant. I had my daughter in 2005 and have taken prenatal vitamins ever since.

You can still take them, and they won’t make you more fertile. They are just like taking any other multivitamin, but they have things that especially good for the unborn child’s health. They are still good for you to take though.

No.
You take them to make sure you have the proper vitamins to form a good fetus. It doesn’t make you more capable of getting pregnant.

they jsut make sure you have all the vitamins needed for a healthy baby that developes properly and healthily.
If all these vitamins are already in your body then it makes your baby healthier when its concieved.
I dont think they make you more fertile though. There are lots of different factors that effect that.
So you can take them whenever you wish.

The folic acid in prenatal vitamins helps prevent birth defects. It also helps cell production.
When you are trying to get pregnant, Folic acid should figure on top of your health checklist. Folic acid, also called folate or folacin, is one of the B vitamins, also known as B9. It is a vital raw material for production of red blood cells, as well as norepinephrine and serotonin (chemical components of the nervous system). Folic acid also helps to synthesize genetic material in every cell of the body and normalize brain function. Taking folic acid before conception reduces the risk of neural-tube defects such as spina bifida.
Yes, you can take prenatals when you are not pregnant.

They will make your body more prepared for the fetus so that you can have a healthy baby!
