Do aloe vera and vitamin E really eliminate acne scars?

I have bad acne scars and I've heard the vitamin E and aloe vera can, when applied onto the scars, help them fade and even go away completely. Is this true? It sounds too good to be true haha, especially considering my doctor told me I would have to wait for surgery to remove my acne scars. Also, how long should I expect the vitamin E/ aloe vera to completely remove the scars, if this is even possible? Finally, which is more effective, the vitamin E or the aloe vera?
