Can you take birth control & prenatal vitamins at the same time?

My reason for asking is because when I was taking prenatal vitamins due to being pregnant my hair, nails, & skin became very healthy. I tried taking regular nails, skin, and hair vitamins but they don't seem to working well. I was told that prenatal vitamins make you fertile so that's why I want to continue on my birth control. How would this work?

  1. Go ahead, it’s just like taking a multivitamin only it has more of the things that are good for your nails. Prenatals aren’t hormonal so they have no way of disrupting the pill.

  2. birth control (pill or depo) overrides the power of fertility in prenatal vitamins, so go ahead take em together.

  3. Ask your doc.

  4. Birth control works by suppressing ovulation, so it will work regardless of the prenatal vitamins. But just so you know, most researchers and doctors believe that it’s the actual pregnancy that makes your hair, nails, and skin healthy, not the vitamins. So I wouldn’t waste my money if I were you, but if you want to take them, there would be nothing about them that would interfere with your birth control. Good luck!

  5. During this time you barely take in enough calories to sustain yourself. … For example, you can use the birth control patch, or birth control pills, along with condoms for … while the pill must be taken every day at the same time.
