Can taking too much of a Vitamin D supplement turn into fat?

I feel like I am not getting enough Vitamin D so today I bought a supplement, however after doing a little bit of reading I found that most Vitamin D supplements are fat-soluable and being the health freak that I am, am worried that this will cause an increase in fat amount. Can taking too much Vitamin D lead to an increase in fat?

  1. No. The body stores fat when you intake more calories than you burn.

You are correct, vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin but this simply means that the vitamin (vitamins A ,E and K are also fat soluble) is stored in the fatty tissues or liver. It does not create fat, the vitamin is just stored within fat that already exists.
