Best Herbs & Vitamins for Health?

Hey, l'm looking to purchase some herb & vitamins for my health and just wanting some advice on what I should get. I'm already figuring on Curcumin & Tea Tree Oil. I already have some Vitamin C & Odorless Garlic Oil. Anyways, I have Crohn's Disease and been on immunosuppressants for 6 years. I want to help my condition of course, but I also want to be prepared for when we have flu outbreaks. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

  1. hi, Tammy

all the garlic supplements are useless except one, aged kyolic garlic or better yet, fresh garlic

General herb info–Be sure to use only organic or wildcrafted herbs as they are 7-20 times higher in the pytochemicals that cure and prevent disease than conventional herbs

do not use capsules as they are not usually absorbed. Other they are burnt in the powdering process.

Use organic tinctures. This form extract the most plant chemicals from the herb and are easy to take..much easier than teas although teas are 2nd best way to take herbs. If making a tea, use steam distilled or distilled water as it is empty and extracts more chemicals that you want into the water. For soft plant parts like leaves or flowers, make an infusion by pouring boiling water over the herb and steeping .

For harder plant parts like the bark, hard dried berries or roots, use a decoction. Make this by boiling the herbs and water for 15 minutes using a tea ball (or bag if not using bulk herbs) and then strain.

When using a tincture, use a brand like herbpharm that does not believe in standardizing an plant chemical but rather believes in using the whole plant parts that are traditionally and historically used as these parts work synergistically with various nutrients and chemicals but known and unknown.

also companies like herbpharm and herbdoc.com do not use sweeteners on their bitter herbs etc as this might change the results as one generally, for example, takes a bitter herb for the liver and if they sweeten it so it taste better, people will purchase again but it will not work as it should.

Also herbdoc.com soaks the herb in the tincture long enough..some companies only soak for an hour when at least 2 weeks is optimal. They might use 10% herbs while herbdoc packs the jar to the top and then adds the menstrum (liquid extracting element usually vodka, vinegar or glycerin) making for a potent formula that works instead of just having a nice label like herb companies skipping on herbs.

you can also make your own tinctures for about 10% of the cost that are better than nearly everything on the market using organic bulk herbs (or wildcrafted bulk herbs)

    CROHN’S

I suggest a book I just got for my sister in law who has crohn’s disease with all its digestive problems

it is called patient heal thyself this disease often causes its sufferers to lose too much weight as they have chronic diarrhea etc

    http://www.amazon.com/Patient-Heal-Thyself-Remarkable-Groundbreaking/dp/1893910245/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1241702757&sr=8-1

look at his before and after pictures, He had a list of ills a mile long and went to over 70 doctors etc in several countries and took tens of thousands of dollars of supplements with no help..the book tells how he did this. I have not read it all but what I read so far is interesting.

To enhance the immune system, the traditional herbs are organic echinacea tincture (do not use capsules as they are not easily absorbed..see above), fresh garlic (3 cloves a day is good), and organic astragalus tincture

    more about astragalus–http://www.blessedmaineherbs.com/herforhealim.html

these web-pages below are ones you should read for more on strengthening the immune system. One is about glandulars that strengthen the immune system.

in event of flu or any viral, bacterial, fungal or protazoan infection, any of the following should be used

    1. organic olive leaf tincture..take 3-5 times a day or even more during flu onset–60 drops (2 dropperfuls) per dose

    2. grapefruit seed extract–according to label ( I feel this tastes bad but better with lemonade)

    3. raw garlic..at least three big cloves

    4. colloidal silver–follow directions (not my preferred choice)

    5. oil of oregano–follow label

  2. You should be taking echinacea and golden seal as both of these herbs are excellent for an immune boost. I don’t know what else to tell you but I added a couple links down below. I hope this helped some and hope you are better soon!

  3. Don’t take any herbs at all without talking to your doctor first. No one knows what the drug interactions are going to be.
