Are apples and bananas good for lowering blood pressure?
I'm also trying raw garlic. I would just like to know if anyone has experience on what other fruits and vegetables are good for lowering blood pressure. Thanks.

I recently read that increasing your potassium intake can have as much effect as lowering your salt intake on BP. (eat more bananas and white potatoes and less salt)

Bananas are rich in potassium, garlic pills are good for lowering blood pressure so I would say the real thing would also be good, just don’t kiss your girl Friend after you’ve eaten the garlic, they get offended…

The only dietary changes that result in lower blood pressure is eating less salt (all restaurant foods have tons of salt), maintaining a healthy weight and getting lots of exercise. If you’re 30 pounds overweight and eat out all the time, no amount of fruit or garlic will help.

Strokes. According to research in The New England Journal of Medicine, eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!
Banana is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect for blood pressure! So much so that the US Food and Drug Administration has allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit’s ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

No. Consume fruits that are low on the glycemic index only. Google GI chart and it will pull up details for your in regards to those foods.
Plenty of water, stress reduction, rest, and exercise also play an intricate role in lowering blood pressure.
Garlic is good, as are foods rich in niacin. Look for Kyolic garlic supplements.
Good luck.

Apples, yes, not so much banannas due to the amount of natural sugars in them, but banannas are still better than Big Mac’s…
the best thing for lowering blood pressure is diet, weight-loss should come naturally with a healthy diet…every 2lbs you loose your blood pressure will go down 1 point – also cut out salt, meat, dairy, and junk of all kinds

All natural fruits and vegetables are high in potassium, which helps lower blood pressure in many people. It doesn’t matter if you eat bananas or apples or kidney beans or yams, just cut way down on meat and eat lots and lots of all kinds of fruits and veggies. It’s best to reduce your salt intake as well and eat very little fried food.

Blood Pressure
Bananas are extremely high in potassium (about 4673mg), yet very low in sodium (1mg), thus having a perfect ratio for preventing high blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit’s ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.
