26 Ways to Stop Being A Pessimist – Part 1
What Can Cause Pessimism? 1. For some people, a pessimistic attitude serves as a source of sardonic humor and might even be a coping mechanism. They might feel they are actually warding off negativity by being prepared for the worst. They believe that "If you continually expect the worse, you are apt to be pleasantly surprised a lot. However, if you always expect the best, you may be disappointed frequently." This is considered a reasonable rationale for pessimists. In reality, this approach hurts them twofold: Once when they are mentally and emotionally preparing for the hardship and once again when it actually occurs. Either way, they're gonna feel bad whether misfortune strikes or not, as opposed to the optimist who has a 50-50 chance of not feeling bad at all. In the case of true optimists, they might not even feel bad when disaster does come their way. 2. Lack of organization is also an important factor. People get overwhelmed and stressed out in today's fast-paced world. When you don't realize just how many things are going on around you, it's hard to focus on how to put them back in order. So it's only logical that you're going to feel lost and everything's going to seem dark and gloomy. 3. Another cause of pessimistic thinking is that the people around us have a great impact on how we feel. Pessimistic people have a way of dragging those around them down to their level. So some people may become pessimistic because they hang out with pessimists. If you have ...

I think your videos are GREAT and I really think you could be getting thousands of views. Just a word of advice: I think the only thing that’s holding you back is that most of your videos are really long and people are stupid and don’t have a good attention span. Just a suggestion – keep up the great work!!

@lenaslife thank you so very much, both for the compliment and for the suggestion. i agree that my videos are way too long. i really try my best to keep them short, but i just can’t find it in me to take away information. when i know i can help you in 26 ways i need to help you in 26 ways. any less feels like i’m cheating you. lol but that’s no excuse. i guess i can try harder. and i will! :)

August 8th, 2010 - 09:45

August 8th, 2010 - 09:48
@spilsbury1947 hahaha! naaaah…. don’t flatter me. (although i enjoy it :P). i’m just good at researching. plus, i have a VERY good relationship with my psychologist and he helps me out sometimes. :)
August 8th, 2010 - 09:59
@bukroot May i please ask, are you a student of psychology?
August 8th, 2010 - 10:02
@spilsbury1947 haha! nope. i really wanted to be though. remember my video with the questions tag? when i was little i thought being a psychologist would really suit me. i think i would’ve been good at it. i’ve read loads of psychology books and i do happen to do some psychology classes at uni (coz teachers have to do a bit of that). but other than that, i’m just really interested and like to read up on psychology and all it’s secrets. it’s incredibly useful! why do you ask though?
August 8th, 2010 - 10:20
@bukroot No reason really. You are again a very enlighten person and I like that. It is nice to know there is someone else out in the world like me. I did psychology, and should have continued with it. so i look forward to tomorrow and your fantastic video.
August 8th, 2010 - 11:06
@spilsbury1947 it really IS nice to know there are people out there that think in similar ways to us. it’s always a great feeling. :) glad i could make you feel that way. :) lets just hope i get the time to make the video and not be a day late again. i hate being late so bad! but its hard to avoid when the house is always full of people.

Where did the new accent come from? Loved the lighting in the kitchen, will we see cooking with Rose in the future? All great points. I try to spread positivity and optimism myself, it’s interesting to see the change when I spend a lot of time with a pessimist though. No sense worrying about things you can’t change though!
August 9th, 2010 - 17:04
@snowlionud HAHAHA! I told you that my accent changes frequently depending on who i spend time with? lately i’ve been hanging out with aussies and brits. lol
August 9th, 2010 - 17:05
@AngryAussie thanx for taking the time to watch. :) nice to know you liked it. i’m working on the length now, coz i know they are way too long. with a bit of will and effort, i’ll improve in now time. :)

I think you are very cheesy and sound extremely demeaning/ condescending/ patronising. All in all you could be making more worthwhile videos! Just think of the glass as half full ;-)
August 21st, 2010 - 15:45
@jumpstick1990 thank you for your feedback. i guess you’re right. i do tend to have a patronizing tone some times. i’m definitely going to try my best to fix that. :) keep in touch
