13 and losing hair….???? :[?

ok from late 5th grade till mid 7th grade i would striaghten my hair every day [some exceptions in the summer]. my straightener broke and have been diffusing it since. my mom wouldnt let me buy another striaghtener because she says its bad for my hair. but anyway ever since ive been diffusing my natural waves it seems like i've been losing more strands. like i just took a shower and i lost like 10-15 strands. im really worried and my mom has really thin hair. she takes hair skin & nails vitamins everyday and wants me to take them now. will that work? or is it not enough? i really dont want to go bald i really really dont.

btw. i dont have bald spots or anything. but i have naturally thin strands. my hair is pretty long but im getting it cut to my shoulderblades today...will that help? oh and clumps of hair do not come out.

  1. People shed hair every day. As long as your hair is not noticeably thinner and there are no bald patches it is probably nothing to worry about. It is perfectly normal, you probably just never noticed it before. If it were noticeably thinner, I would suggest mentioning it to your doctor because it could be a symptom of an underlying health problem.

  2. when you go to get it cut today as them. I bet they will tell you to stop diffusing it. Make sure your mom is around when they tell you. Then ask about is a straightner really bad for your hair? With any luck they will be on your side seeing how they use straightners themselves!

  3. i dont think cutting it will help, but those vitamens will help a little. And you shouldnt worry, everyone has that happen to them, especially if they dye their hair. I think that your hair got so used to being straightened that when you stopped, you started losing hair. Now here’s a solution, if your worryed about going bald (which you wont) wear your hair up so it wont fall out as much during hours when your not in the shower.

  4. I wouldn’t worry, my hair comes out alot when I brush it or straighten it there will be hair everywhere, but it’s still thick and normal. Hair falls out all the time but you probably just never noticed it.

  5. I have a similar problem, but getting it cut will definately help – the ends of your hair are years old and probably not as healthy as the roots. I’ve heard that losing some amount of hair when washing/brushing it is normal, so don’t panic too much, but maybe you could look at your diet and see whether you’re lacking in any vitamins. I’d talk to a doctor to be sure.

  6. Seriously, ask your parents or something.

  7. its nothing to worry abbout i have realy curly hair and i shed bucket fulls of hair when i wash it its fine

    DONT PANIC!

  8. Well, when constantly straightening your hair everyday, you’re drying it out and causing damage. If anything you do it once every other day. Don’t worry just keep off of it for a while. The haircut may help as well!

    Good Luck!
